WHAT IS THE CBL?
The Canadian Basketball League is a development league playing under FIBA Rules. The League was founded in Toronto, Canada on July 30, 2014 by Butch Carter and launched the inaugural season in the Fall of 2016. The first season consisted of 4 teams playing in the Greater Toronto Area. Hamilton United Basketball Club located in Hamilton, Ontario played out of the David Braley Gymnasium on the Mohawk College campus. The Wellington Basketball Club competed out of the W.F. Mitchell Centre on the campus at the University of Guelph. The Scarborough Basketball Club played at the Toronto Pan Am Centre in Scarborough, Ontario. The Durham United Basketball Club played their home games at Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario. After a successful regular season of 18 games, the Scarborough Basketball Club was crowned the 2016-2017 Champions on March 18th  after defeating the Durham United Basketball Club. Scarborough finished 15-3 with two 1st-Team All-CBL players, the CBL MVP, and the Championship game Most Outstanding Player. YES TV network televised the live broadcast of the CBL Game of the Week. Our games were also live-streamed on our League website – www.cbltv.com.

An official CBL coach will conduct the Combines to determine if tryout attendees are capable of earning a potential contract in the development league.

CBL Director of Basketball Operations Garrett Kelly or CBL President Butch Carter will assist in running the Combines. Kelly played NCAA Division I at Loyola University Maryland and went on to have successful coaching stints at The Catholic University of America, Radford University, and Siena College before joining the CBL. Kelly is the Head Coach of the Scarborough Basketball Club.
